Dear cooperating teacher,
Hello! My name is Jon Soroka, and I am writing this
letter as a personal introduction to you, my cooperating teacher, for my
internship semester. Originally, I am
from a small town by the name of Pierceland, Saskatchewan, but I have lived in
Regina for the past twelve years, where I attended Winston Knoll Collegiate for
my four years of high school. As it
stands now, I am enrolled in my final year of my B.Ed degree with a major in
English and minor in biology.
I
have a great deal of experience with young people in an education setting due
to my job as a public programming assistant with the Friends of the Royal
Saskatchewan Museum. Throughout the
summer, we put on day-camps for children between the ages of 5-10. For the past
two summers, I have helped with the planning and execution of these camps, and
this has enhanced my skills in lesson planning, classroom management, and
communication.
I
am quite interested in helping out with the school’s extra-curricular drama
program. During my time at Winston
Knoll, I was a part of both onstage and offstage activities, specializing as a
sound technician. Naturally, I would love to get back into it and contribute to
the production as much as I can. I would
also like to look into any science-based clubs that you may have at your
school, especially if there is one based on environmentalism.
Thank
you for agreeing to take an intern for this fall. I look forward to working and learning with
you at your school. I feel that I bring
a new perspective and a willingness to learn to my internship. The most important thing I can contribute to
this semester is a desire to work with the students of your school, both in and
out of the classroom. I am also excited
to work with other staff members and gain an understanding of how the school
functions.
I
will contact you before the school year end and arrange to visit you and the
school. Once again, thank you for agreeing
to take an intern this fall. I am sure
it will be a great experience for the both of us!
Sincerely,
Jon Soroka
